3 Days - Meru

Mount Meru is the second highest mountain of Tanzania (4,566m). Its towering over Arusha National Park. This volcano was born around 500,000 years ago and its first eruption exploded on the eastern side. The last eruption was in 1910. In addition to that Mount Meru has one of the deepest craters (over 1500 meter).
Mount Meru is a great adventure by itself. The climb up to the peak traverses several climatic zones and offers diverse landscapes. Lying within Arusha National Park the lower reaches are amazingly rich in wildlife. When do you get the opportunity to do a walking safari whilst hiking a big mountain? You can see different animals like: Buffaloes, antelopes, monkeys, giraffes and even if you are lucky elephants. This is also the reason why an armed ranger is going to escort you.
